IGNOU MSW Field Work Visit Sample Report – Salam Balak Trust

Date: 15 October 2012   Day: Monday     Time: 10am to 5 PM

Name of the agency: Salam Balak Trust (SBT)

Name of the supervisor: Mr. Santosh Gupta

Plan of the day: Visit to the agency, introduction, get information on programs etc.

Work Done: Volunteer reached at the contact point of SBT located in the Hanunan Mandir, CP. He meets with Mr. Mahesh and Mrs. Seema at this point. Both of these are the staff of SBT and working at the contact points of SBT. Mr. Mahesh is working as a medical social worker while Mrs. Seema is a teacher.

Mr. Mahesh told me to meet with the project coordinator of the contact point. I met with Mr. Santosh Gupta who is the project coordinator of the 2 contact points one is located at the Hanuman Mandir, CP while second is at Valmiki Dham.

I found about they work. Street children program was going on at the Hanuman Mandir contact point. At this point, we have to motivate children about study. Santosh sir told me that there are numbers of children who are drugs addicted and we have to motivate them about not to take drugs. They also admitted children in the nearest drug rehabilitation center where children live for 6 months and then moves to the open shelter of SBT.

Santosh sir also told me about the other contact points of the SBT. He told that there are New Delhi Railway Station, Jamna bazaar Old Delhi, Pratap Nagar, Geeta colony, Seelampur, Dilshad Garden and Vivek Vihar. He also told me about the complete history of the organization starting from when started and how operated.

Then we move to the Valmiki Dham contact point where the formal classes held. I worked with some children in the center.

Observation: In my today’s work I found the activities on the both of the center. I found that children were taking interest in their study.

Plan of the next day: Group activities with children.
